Benfotiamine

Benfotiamine Dosage & Review

Benfotiamine Review Benfotiamine is a synthetic derivative and a lipid soluble form of Thiamine or Vitamin B1. It is primarily marketed as an antioxidant dietary supplement but also promises to be a powerful treatment for diabetic neuropathy and nephropathy. However, further clinical studies should still be conducted with regards to this claim. Some researches indicate that Benfotiamine is a fat-soluble component and is more bioavailable and physiologically active than thiamine. It raises the blood level of Thiamin pyrophosphate, the biologically active co-enzyme of thiami, and stimulates transkotelase, a cellular enzyme essential for the maintenance of normal glucose metabolic pathways. This helps maintain the cells to be healthy in the presence of blood glucose and also controls advanced glycation end products. It is also known as S-{Z-2-{4-amino-2-methylpyrimidin-5-yl methyl-formylamino}-5-phosphonooxypent-2-en-3-yl} benzenecarbothioate.
