Immunity Surgeries to Supplements
Hello All, my name is Celia Islas, and I currently live in Goshen, Indiana, and am going to Indiana University of South Bend; while working on obtaining my Master%u2019s. Once upon a time, I was once a patient in a surgery clinic, having an endoscopy and a colonoscopy both done within a month. It was the fall of 2013, and I was having consistent constipation and bloating, I mean it was discouraging to do anything. Exercise hurt, eating made me skeptical on feeling better, and I even asked people to pray for me. They prayed, but I knew I wanted to hear wisdom from doctors, specialists, and allow them to tell me what I doing wrong or what was wrong with me; and ask them if there something I needed to do. After being given a pack of individual Metamucil, and being told to try Miralax and Duralax, by my doctor at the time, I persisted in telling her that I would like to have an operation, to check my stomach. Finally, came the day for my colonoscopy. I was twenty-seven years old. Nothing was found, thank God, but the specialist said he wanted me to have an endoscopy, too. Within three weeks, I had an endoscopy, and some inflammation was found, but nothing else. I was given the go-ahead to eat and move around after healing, and I was then very hopeful to eat healthier and exercise more. I was told, as I am sure many others have, to eat fiber, drink plenty of water, and to stay active. My doctor was still prolonged her recommendation of me using the enhancers. Then I was recommended to go to a Holistic center. That changed my life, as I had soon changed doctors, and made my first appointment. There, I was told to go have my labs drawn, and that was the first time for that, as there is a first time for anything. My labs shown that I had low Vitamin D and Magnesium (and later Zinc), plus with my previous constipation problem, I was recommended to take Pro-biotics. I was like what are those? Needless to say, (my) nutritionist was against any enhanced supplements and told me that I, indeed, can do the same for myself, take natural things that would help my body, such as Pro-biotics and the ones listed. Even the cost was a little high, she gave me a coupon and told me about a website that had the healthy supplements at a lesser price. I took the supplements, and my bowels moved easier, more natural, and nothing was being forced, as I was told the Pro-biotics, alone, helps my good bacteria in my stomach lining exceed the bad, and such. It worked. I needed the others for energy, focus, and stability in having my numbers (of my labs) be higher than what they were. Bottom line, I basically have been on the operation table and have been in lab seat, for nearly the same thing, and have found that not only post-discharge care coordination is important, but that it is also important for one to know his/her options, once off out of that surgery room, or even doctor's office. Good health comes to those who help themselves, but it is essential for one's well-being to know that there is more than supplements handed to him/her. The advancement and improvement can definitely follow, as I have found, from knowing where you stand after any form of appointment. Also, I would recommend one having his/her labs done on a quarterly basis, at least. That way his/her numbers are known (in terms of Vitamins and Minerals and such), and then he/she can really help him/herself. This electronic machine can help anyone focus more on his/her health, while determining the factors that could otherwise lead to worse circumstances down the road, in different perspectives. With that, it was pretty neat to see how an Holistic company uses recommendations, such as having labs down with an electronic machinery to help them help others. It is very important for one to take care of all of his/her body, including energy-wise and chronic conditions, such as constipation, and a small appointment, such as having labs down on a morning routine, really makes a piece of paper worth while, and it can definitely go a long way, in a sense of better well-being. For one to track his/her progress in his/her health, from a simple machine such as blood drawing, can add quantifying, and even qualifying days to one's life. I am someone I know, and I can attest to the fact that doctors have supplements to help an issue temporarily, but I would much rather not feed my colon with plastic, making my body work unnaturally. Instead, I would prefer to go the Holistic route, taking care of all of me. With my first labs being done at nearly the age of thirty, I have found what I needed to endure my body's progress, naturally, with herbs and vitamins, all to re-promote my energy levels and help my digestive track to remember how to work. All-in-all, I made it evident to recommend the Holistic center, Physicians Holistic Health Alliance, in South Bend, I went to to others that are going through similar situations, older or younger than me, adding that Laugh Therapy and Life Coaching are an imminent plus. Thank you for your time. Celia Islas
