Vitamin D, also known as Calciferol, refers to a group of secostreoids known to enhance intestinal absorption of calcium, iron, zinc, phosphate, and magnesium. Also, grapefruit seed extracts are taken by mouth for bacterial, viral, and fungal infections. These seed extracts may also be applied to the skin as a facial cleanser, a remedy for mild skin irritations, and as a vaginal douche for candidiasis. Grapefruit contains high levels of Vitamin C, a mild acid, which helps fade spots by reducing excess production of skin pigment, as stated by Jessica Wu, M.D., a Los Angeles-based dermatologist. Aside from its health benefits, grapefruit may also be used as a household cleaner for fruits and vegetables, dishes, kitchen surfaces, and many more. This is due to the fact that grapefruit contains citric acid which dissolves dirt and grime. Also, grapefruit has been added to food and beverages as a flavoring component.
