Propanolol Alternatives

Propranolol is a well-known beta blocker that inhibits the sympathetic nervous system, leading to decreases in physical symptoms of anxiety and panic. It is marketed today with different names like Ciplar, Inderal, Dociton, and among others. Its action is very quick as it is able to cross the blood-brain barrier and enter into the central nervous system. In someone with high levels of stress, it would eliminate the physical effects of the Òfight-or-flightÓ response and is known to reduce blood pressure. Some have considered this drug a slight nootropic in that it increases mental performance in stressful situations such as stage freight and public speaking.
