Ecdysteroids Alternatives

Ecdysteroids Review

Ecdysteroids ReviewEcdysteroids, also called zooecdysteroids, are steroid hormones that regulate the moulting, metamorphosis and reproduction of arthropods2. Also, they are present in approximately 5-6% of plant species but have higher fat concentrations. On the other hand, even though ecdysteroids are not associated with metabolism among mammals, traces of ecdysteroids are still observed in the mammalian tissues and fluids due to the dietary intake of ecdysteroid-containing plants or infection by invertebrate parasites. Early pharmacological studies regarding ecdysteroids can be associated with the stimulation of protein synthesis and significant anabolic effects among rat subjects. At present, ecdysteroids are used among bodybuilders among with other anabolic chemicals along with a high-protein diet3. It is also known as Suma extract, pfaffia extract, Brazilian ginseng extract, beta-ecdysterone, turkesterone, ecdysterone 1.
