Studies have been conducted that beet root may have a positive impact on hypertensive patients since it may reduce blood pressure levels. Beet root also contains high concentration of nitrates, which are then converted into nitrites by the bacteria in the mouth. These nitrites help open blood vessels in the body, increaseng blood flow and oxygen to places that lack oxygen levels. Also, nitrites may also increase blood flow to the brain.
