Aloe vera ReviewThe name aloe vera is derived form the Arabic word "Alloeh" meaning to say "shining bitter substance" while "vera" means "true" in Latin. Its botanical name is Aloe barbadensis miller and belongs to the Asphodelaceae family. It appears to be a shrubby, perrenial, pea-green color plant. Aloe vera has been used for centuries already and early uses of it include being a topical medication to treat wounds for various conditions, skin infections, burns and orally as a laxative. At the present some people use aloe vera as a traditional remedy for several conditions such as diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, and osteoarthritis. Moreover, has been added to various skin products, such as lotions and sunblocks. Aloe vera contains 75 potentially active constituents including vitamins A, C and E, enzymes, minerals such as calcium, chromium and copper, sugars, and many others. It is also known as Aloe Barbadensis.
